Legal English Certificate (LEC) Test aims to assess proficiency in test takers’ English reading, writing, logic reasoning, translating and comprehension of legal terminology and concepts across American law practices. In doing so, LEC Test displays some characteristics of the American Bar Exam
In the United States, an individual with a law degree must be licensed in their state before they can practice law. In order to be licensed, one must pass the bar exam, which is an intensive 2 or more day exam. The bar exam consists of several essay questions that test general legal principles, complex essay questions that tests the state's (the state which you are obtaining your license in) own laws, and a Multistate Bar Examination, which is a 200 multiple-choice exam that tests knowledge on principles of federal common law.
LEC Test is continuously assessed and evaluated to reflect current legal English standard.
